About the RJC
What RJC certification is.
The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is the leading global standard-setting organisation for the jewellery and watch industry. Founded in 2005 by 14 organisations including Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Rio Tinto, and De Beers, its membership now spans over 2,000 companies worldwide.
RJC certification audits a member company against the RJC's Code of Practices, covering environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, supply chain integrity, human rights, labour standards, and business ethics. Members are independently audited by approved third-party auditors before certification is issued.

Major Trading's COP certification (Code of Practices) covers the entire business. This includes our offices in London, Geneva, and Paris, our sourcing and partner network, our cutting operations, and our supply chain documentation systems.
The certification is renewed on a defined audit cycle. Throughout that cycle, we operate to the standards documented in our certified business practices and the RJC's Code of Practices.
Our internal Five-Level Traceability Standard sits alongside our RJC certification. The two work together: the RJC certifies how we operate as a business; the Five-Level Standard documents the provenance of each stone we deliver.
