Precision measured in hundredths of a millimetre
Watch dials leave no room for error. We calibrate coloured stones to ±0.02mm tolerance for tier-1 manufacturers worldwide.
From cabochons to custom tapers, we deliver the certainty your production schedule requires.
The Challenge
Watch dial production leaves no room for error
When stones don't meet tolerance, entire dials are rejected. Production delays cost time and reputation.
Standard gemstone suppliers work in tenths of millimetres. Watch manufacturing works in hundredths. That gap creates risk.
You need a supplier who understands that ±0.02mm isn't optional, it's a requirement. Someone who's been solving this problem in dedicated partnership with Swiss watchmakers since 1987.

Our Approach
Servicing Swiss watchmakers since 1987
We've been calibrating stones for Swiss watchmakers since 1987. We understand your technical drawings, your tolerances, and your production schedules.
Every stone is calibrated to your exact specifications. Colour matching across entire sets. Complete documentation from mine to manufacture. Named contacts who respond within 24 hours.
We work with ruby, sapphire, emerald, and specialised materials. Cabochons, tapers, custom shapes, whatever your dial requires.
Precision calibration
±0.02mm tolerance maintained across entire sets. We work to your specifications, not ours.
Colour uniformity
Complete colour matching from prototype through production runs of 500+ stones.
Documented traceability
Five-Level Traceability Standard. Every stone documented from mine to your manufacture.
How It Works
From technical drawing to documented delivery
Share your specifications
Send us your technical drawings and requirements. We'll confirm feasibility and provide preliminary timing.
Source and select
We source rough material that meets colour and clarity requirements for your project.
Calibrate and verify
Each stone is cut and calibrated to your exact tolerances. Full QC verification before delivery.
Deliver with documentation
Stones delivered with complete specifications, certificates, and traceability documentation.

Specialised Cutting
Grooved baguettes for invisible setting
Invisible setting (serti mystérieux) requires stones cut with precision grooves on the underside, slotted into a metal armature so no setting is visible from the front. The grooves are cut to micron tolerances. If they're off, the setting fails.
Most cutters don't do this work. The tolerance, the consistency across a set, the finishing required, all sit at the limit of what calibration can deliver.
We're currently active in this work for tier-1 manufacturers and houses that demand it. If your dial or piece needs grooved baguettes, we can cut them.

Colour matching
Calibrated against a documented reference
Watch dial calibration requires not just dimensional precision but colour consistency across the parcel. Major Trading matches calibrated stones against documented reference masters, including baguette masters for ruby, sapphire, and emerald, plus tone-graduation masters for Mozambique ruby and grey spinel.
For projects with specific colour requirements, we create a project-specific master. Sample stones approved by your team before production, full set re-verified against the project master before delivery.
Traceability Integration
Full traceability included
Every watch stone project includes documentation under our Five-Level Traceability Standard. You receive complete provenance records from mine to your manufacture, supporting ESG compliance and enabling brand storytelling.
Major Trading is RJC-certified, supporting your compliance reporting at every level.
